Perdebatan lazim terjadi saat ada yang merilis daftar game terbaik. Namun lain halnya saat Steam yang merilis daftar tersebut, karena datanya berasal dari gamer di platform tersebut.
Dalam Steam Awards 2020, titel Game of The Year dan Outstanding Story-Rich Game jatuh pada game Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR 2). Game keluaran 2019 ini mendapat perlawanan keras dari sejumlah game seperti Fall Guys, Hades, Death Stranding, dan Doom Eternal untuk mendapat gelar game terbaik.
Sementara untuk kategori Outstanding Story-Rich Game, RDR 2 mengalahkan game seperti Detroit: Become Human dan Horizon Zero Dawn, demikian dikutip detikINET dari Techspot, Selasa (5/1/2021).
