Pengapalan iPhone Diprediksi Merosot 10% Gara-gara Wabah Corona

The number of those who have died from the virus in China climbed to over 250 on Saturday, mostly in Hubei province, and cases have been reported in other countries including the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, India, the United Kingdom, Germany, France and several others. Setelah mendominasi penjualan ponsel pada Q4 2019, pengapalan iPhone 11 pada Q1 2020 diprediksi merosot gara-gara virus corona.

Ini adalah analisis dari Ming-Chi Kuo, yang memperkirakan pengapalan iPhone akan menurun 10% menjadi 36-40 juta unit ponsel pada Q1 2020 ini. Penyebab penurunan tersebut adalah virus corona yang berasal dari China.

Padahal, sebelumnya Foxconn -- perakit iPhone -- sudah memastikan produksi iPhone tak akan terdampak oleh virus tersebut, meskipun sejumlah komponen iPhone dan beberapa bagian kameranya dibuat di pabrik Foxconn yang berlokasi di Wuhan, China, yang merupakan tempat menyebarnya virus tersebut.

Tidak cuma iPhone yang ada saat ini yang terdampak dari virus tersebut, melainkan juga model iPhone mendatang alias iPhone 9 yang kabarnya mulai diproduksi pada Maret ini. Selain itu aksesoris Apple seperti AirPods pun menurut Kuo bakal terdampak oleh virus tersebut.

Sebelumnya diberitakan, Apple menutup semua toko dan kantor korporat dan termasuk contact center mereka di China Daratan yang ikut ditutup mulai 9 Februari mendatang.

Hal ini diungkap Apple dalam keterangannya ke Bloomberg, sekaligus memperbarui kebijakan mereka yang sebelumnya, di mana mereka hanya menutup satu toko di China terkait penyebaran virus corona tersebut.

Sejauh ini, wabah virus corona sudah menyebabkan 200 korban jiwa, dengan jumlah korban terinfeksi mencapai 10 ribu di seluruh dunia. WHO pun sudah menyatakan kalau wabah ini sebagai situasi darurat global.

Belum jelas apakah pabrik perakitan iPhone yang dijalankan oleh Foxconn juga akan ditutup terkait wabah ini. Namun sejauh ini Foxconn menyatakan mereka mengaku masih beroperasi seperti biasa dan tak akan berdampak pada volume produksi.
