GTA IV Raih Game of The Year

California - Grand Theft Auto IV raih penghargaan tertinggi Game of The Year dalam ajang tahunan bergengsi Spike Video Game Award (VGA 2008). Selain meraih gelar juara umum itu, GTA IV juga meraih gelar Best Action-Adventure Game.

Seperti dikutip detikINET dari Joystiq, Senin (15/12/2008), GTA IV berhasil menyabet dua penghargaan di VGA 2008. Untuk kategori paling bergengsi, Game of The Year, GTA IV sukses mengalahkan Gears of Wars 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, LittleBigPlanet serta Fallout 3.

Patut dicatat juga adalah pencipta game Will Wright yang meraih penghargaan khusus Gamer God. Wright mendapatkan penghargaan itu karena kontribusinya pada dunia game. Wright adalah jenius di balik seri game populer seperti SimCity, The Sims dan Spore.

Dalam malam penganugerahan VGA yang digelar 14 Desember 2008 di Culver City, California itu diberikan juga penghargaan pada mantan model Playboy yang kini lebih dikenal sebagai aktris dan aktivis Jenny McCarthy. Jenny mendapatkan penghargaan dalam perannya sebagai Special Agent Tanya pada game Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3.

Si seksi McCarthy mengalahkan tokoh-tokoh lain, termasuk Dame Judi Dench (M dalam Quantum of Solace) dan Liv Tyler (Betty Ross dalam The Incredible Hulk). Sedangkan untuk tokoh pria, peraih penghargaan serupa adalah Kiefer Sutherland yang menyuarakan Sgt. Roebuck dalam game Call of Duty: World at War.
