Amerika Serikat - Google minggu ini resmi membuka kantor barunya, Kampus 'Bay View' di California, Amerika Serikat. Kantornya ini mengusung tema ramah lingkungan dan futuristik.

Mengutip CNBC, Kampus "Bay View" ini terletak di lahan seluas 42 hektar yang berdekatan dengan Pusat Penelitian Ames NASA di Mountain View.

Kantor ini akan menampung 4.000 karyawan yang mengerjakan produk iklannya yang dipimpin oleh Wakil Presiden Iklan Google Jerry Dischler. Ini mencakup dua gedung perkantoran, pusat acara 1.000 orang dan 240 unit hotel sementara untuk karyawan di kota jangka pendek.

Untuk diketahui, Google menghasilkan sebagian besar uangnya dari iklan tetapi memiliki karyawan yang tersebar di seluruh dunia. Perusahaan melaporkan 54,66 miliar dolar AS pendapatan iklan untuk kuartal pertama (naik dari 44,68 miliar dolar AS pada tahun sebelumnya).

Kampus Bay View dirancang oleh arsitek dari Bjarke Ingels Group dan Heatherwick Studio. Atap bangunan dilapisi dengan panel surya yang dirancang khusus untuk memaksimalkan pengumpulan air hujan dan cahaya yang masuk ke dalam gedung. Atap ini juga yang menjadi ciri khas dari Bay View yang menyerupai sisik naga.

Ini juga merupakan kampus pertama yang dikembangkan perusahaan. Kampus Google lainnya adalah bangunan yang sudah ada sebelumnya yang telah dimodifikasi oleh perusahaan.

Tidak dijelaskan berapa biaya yang dikeluarkan untuk membangun Kampus Bay View. Namun, ini adalah salah satu dari 20 proyek utama yang akan menerima investasi tahun ini dengan nilai hampir 10 miliar dolar AS.

Kampus ini memiliki ruang informal, hotel di tempat, dan ruang berbeda untuk tim yang terdiri dari enam hingga sepuluh orang untuk bekerja.
