Roket HII-A meluncur dari landasan peluncuran di Tanegashima Space Center di Kagoshima, Jepang, Kamis (7/9/2023).

Jepang meluncurkan pesawat ruang angkasa eksplorasi bulan menggunakan roket H-IIA buatan dalam negeri, Kamis (7/9/2023). Peluncuran tersebut dilakukan Jepang dengan harapan menjadi negara kelima di dunia yang mendarat di bulan awal tahun depan.

Badan Eksplorasi Dirgantara Jepang (JAXA) mengatakan roket tersebut lepas landas dari Tanegashima Space Center di Jepang selatan sesuai rencana dan berhasil meluncurkan Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (SLIM). Cuaca yang tidak mendukung menyebabkan tiga kali penundaan dalam seminggu pada bulan lalu.

Dijuluki "penembak jitu bulan", Jepang bertujuan untuk mendaratkan SLIM dalam jarak 100 meter dari lokasi targetnya di permukaan bulan.

Misi senilai USD100 juta atau sekitar Rp1,5 triliun ini diperkirakan akan mulai mendarat pada bulan Februari setelah melakukan pendekatan yang panjang dan hemat bahan bakar.
